Employee Benefits
Financial Security
Abbott employees have the opportunity to acquire shares in Abbott through the Company Share Ownership Plan. It is entirely voluntary and all brokerage fees (excluding sell transactions) are met by the company.
Salary sacrificing is a tax effective way for employees to maximise net earning capacity. Abbott employees can arrange to salary sacrifice superannuation contributions, novated leases, Qantas club memberships, laptop computers, mobile phones or electronic diaries in accordance with the Fringe Benefits Tax Act.
Abbott also provides all full-time and part-time employees working more than 15 hours per week with Salary Continuance and Death Cover insurance up to age 65. Abbott also provides $15,000 to the family, to assist with funeral expenses, upon the death of an employee.
Health & Wellbeing
Abbott offers a comprehensive Employee Assistance Program (EAP) that provides employees and their immediate family with free:

- Customised exercise and diet plan
As well as the Employee Assistance Program, Abbott also provides employees free annual flu vaccinations and assistance to those wanting to quit smoking.
First Aid Courses are scheduled on an annual basis and Abbott employees are encouraged to gain their first aid qualification to assist in both their private and professional life.
Gymnasium facilities are available to employees located at the Botany Head Office for a small fee. Abbott has also negotiated a Corporate Membership with Fitness First for employees and their immediate family. This provides employees access to Fitness First’s national and international facilities at a Corporate Membership rate.
Professional Development
Financial support may be provided to assist employees with the completion of approved tertiary education in support of an employee’s career development.
Abbott also offers Team Leaders and Managers access to the Manager Assist program — an advisory service providing suggestions and options that enable them to manage interpersonal relationships within the workplace.
