Our Community
Abbott is dedicated to its responsibility as a global corporate citizen. The company has devoted expertise, products and people to address issues that matter most to our neighbours, customers and partners around the world.
Investment in citizenship initiatives address unmet needs in four strategic areas:
Abbott has committed $100 million over five years to help fight HIV/AIDS in the developing world and is one of only a handful of companies that continues to develop and manufacture HIV drugs and diagnostics. We offer our two antiretroviral treatments and our HIV rapid test at no profit in 68 developing countries, including all of Africa (Access to HIV Care). Closer to home Abbott Australasia's employees are proud to support local charities such as the Leukaemia Foundation, Sydney Childrens' Hospital and the Clown Doctors; a group of doctors, clowns and performers dedicated to helping relieve a child's pain with laughter whilst in hospital. For a number of years Abbott Australasia has proudly sponsored educational and specialist development areas. Our support for the anaesthetic simulators at Royal North Shore, Sydney and Royal Perth Hospitals, has greatly helped to advance the skills of anaesthetists. Abbott Australasia is also a significant supporter of the advancement of pain treatment in numerous centres across Australia.
Patient Organisation Support
Abbott has a proud history of working with patient organisations in Australia and New Zealand to help provide valuable information
and support to patients and to the people that care for them, such as family and friends.
We believe that we can support these organisations in their efforts to help patients understand and manage their disease.
Event Support - An event or program conducted by the Patient Organisation, which is sponsored by Abbott, whether in whole or in part (eg paying for a room rental or meal). Patient Education - An educational program directed at patients, which is sponsored by Abbott, whether in whole or in part. Caregiver Education - An educational program directed at patient caregivers, which is sponsored by Abbott, whether in whole or in part. Abbott maintains its position as one of the leading healthcare companies in the world through commitment to society, the drive to improve people's lives through innovative healthcare products, and a desire to be the best employer.
